Eastbourne Towner is the contemporary art museum for South East England formerly known as the Towner Art Gallery. We present major exhibitions of UK and international contemporary art – and as a museum, we also have a renowned collection of art from across the ages.

Everything about Towner is designed to make the visitor feel welcome including the price. Its FREE! Stop by and have a friendly chat with our knowledgeable Gallery Assistants – they love to engage in stimulating conversation!

Towner aims to make outstanding art available to the widest possible audience. Our learning and participation programmes are recognised as some of the best in the UK and can often be seen within the gallery.

The architecture of the new Towner building is award-winning.  We are proud to have the largest display space in East Sussex and the whole of the South East of England. Enjoy stunning views over the South Downs from the café barand take one of our free gallery tours (at 11.30am daily) or come enjoy one of our many events for all age groups. 

If you visit Towner in Eastbourne on a weekend or during the school holiday, drop in to our Art Box activity space to create some art of your own (subject to room availability).

The Contemporary Towner Art Museum is a partner in the Plus Tate scheme and contribute to a nationwide exchange of ideas in the visual arts.

Opening Times of Towner in Eastbourne:
Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays 10am - 5pm.

We also have refreshements available at our cafe bar and a gift shop.

Post Code and Directions to Towner Contemporary Art Museum:
Towner is only a 10 minute walk from Eastbourne train station, and a few minutes from the seafront, and can be found by sat nav at postcode BN21 4JJ.

Towner by Train:
Eastbourne is 35 minutes from Brighton, 40 minutes from Hastings and just 1 hour and 25 minutes from London by train.

If you are coming by car there is a pay and display car park in College Road (one minutes walk from Towner. For blue badge holders there are 11 spaces in the car park adjacent to Towner .

We also have bicycle racks located to the rear of Towner for those who cycle.
