Info: If you want historical things to do near Eastbourne come to Bodiam Castle for a great day.

Bodiam Castle in East Sussex is owned by the National Trust and is a great place to visit and explore with the kids. The castle was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III.

Much of the exterior is complete and some of the interior still survives to give the impression of castle life in the Medeival times.

John Fuller "Mad Jack"  of Brightling purchased the castle in 1828 from a firm of Hastings Builders, who were demolishing the castle to use as building materials.

Climb to the top of the towers and admire the picturesque views.

The kids can have a fun time exploring the castle and trying on the armour, with special events throughout the year.
