Blackberry Farm near Lewes is a family run farm set within 18 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside.  The farm is in the small village of Whitesmith approximately 11 miles from Eastbourne and is home to over 200 friendly, good natured animals and wildfowl with plenty of character.  During your visit you can experience hand feeding and handling many of the animals and many more things to do with kids.
 
On you fun filled day out with the family you can see a variety of animals from, several breeds of pig, goats, sheep, alpacas, llamas, Highland Cattle, Jersey Cow and her calf, Shetland ponies, New Forest ponies, Section A pony, donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, ferrets, chinchillas, degus, Chipmunks, mice, rats, wildfowl, ducks, geese, chickens, cockerels and an orphaned deer to name a few. We must not forget the miniature farmyard consisting of Maisy the miniature Dexter Cow, Samson, Merlin and Jack the miniature Donkeys, Frisky and Felix the Pygmy Goats and the naughty Soay Sheep.

At Blackberry Farm there are plenty of things to do with children with daily activities including animal handling, bottle feeding orphaned sheep, tractor rides, pony rides, pony and cart rides, plunge sliding, goat racing, egg collecting and egg blowing, please note some activities are seasonal and weather permitting.

Why not hop into the saddle and learn some great horse riding tips, during one of our daily sessions.  Book your ticket upon arrival at the farm and you will be allocated a time, so there's no need to queue!  All of the ponies are extremely friendly and love being ridden by visitors.

For those who are very keen to learn more about Ponies, basic horsemanship and pony care Blackberry Farm now offer an inexpensive introduction to these skills, at our Pony club. Pony club is run in a 5 week block of 2 hour sessions.

Own a pony day. Would you like to own a pony for a day? At the farm you have the opportunity to be a pony owner for the day. You will be taught all about your pony, how to groom, it,  tack up, about the equipment you will be using and, of course, there will be an opportunity for you to enjoy a fun and informative riding session.  This fun filled opportunity is a real treat and would be ideal for any special occasion.

Pony rides are charged at £2.00
Pony club £35 per 5 week course
Pony owner days are charged at £70.00.  This includes lunch from the cafe menu

Blackberry Farm is also developing the farm to include the surrounding wildlife and eco-systems to help educate people about the value of all wildlife and the work involved in rescuing and rehabilitating wild animals.

In addition to the animals, there is a large outdoor play area with plenty for the kids to do to let off steam, with trampolines, swing boats, sandpit, mini diggers, wendy house, slide, zip slide, fortress, climbing frames, assault course, jumping pillow, "Clucky's" undercover soft play adventure play barn and sensory zone, and an area specifically for babies,

Have your Birthday Party at the Farm. There are two types of birthday party available the Farm Party and the Pony Party or choose both.

Farm Party:
You receive a guided tour of the Farm, with an unlimited amount of animal feed for the children to feed their favourite animals.

The children will then be taken to the small animal barn to enjoy an animal encounter with our smaller animals, during the spring this can include bottle feeding the orphan lambs.

The tour concludes with an exclusive tractor ride around the farm.  Following the tour they will be shown to their very own beautifully decorated Party Barn filled with bunting balloons where they can enjoy a party feast.  

Farm parties are charged at £12.00 per child with both of the party child's parents gaining free entry.

Pony Party:
For an entire hour the party children can indulge their love of ponies. They will have fun grooming, hoof picking, plaiting and getting to know their pony.  Before learning to tack up themselves, in preparation for their fun filled riding session.

After a busy hour the children are taken to the party barn to enjoy their party platter!

Pony parties are charged at £15.00 per child with both of the party child's parents gaining free entry to the farm.

For both parties:
Although your official party may end after 2 hours you are more than welcome to enjoy the rest of the day at the farm.
Parents of the birthday child enter free of charge.  Additional adults and siblings will be charged usual admission (Unless the guests are under 5).
In addition to our birthday programme, we also offer birthday cakes and party bags.

Party feast choices:
For your party feast you can choose from a cold party lunch or hot food. All party food choices are served with table jugs of fruit squash, as standard.

For adult attendants of our parties, we offer adult food platters at £3.00 per person.  These include an assortment of freshly filled baguettes on a platter which is decorated with salad and Kettle chips.

For birthdays and special occasions Blackberry Farm offer the opportunity to be a farmer for the day.
The day will start earlier than our normal opening hours at 9.00am. The young farmer will be given their very own uniform T-Shirt and become an accompanied member of staff for the day!
Their duties will include feeding all of our animals and putting the animals out into their paddocks. They will help with collecting the fresh chicken eggs, grooming the horses or donkeys and mucking out enclosures (although this will be kept to a minimum!). We will provide them with lunch which they can enjoy in the staff quarters.

Along with daily duties they will assist with our Daily Programme which includes the public animal handling sessions and accompanying the tractor driver
        
All staff are C.R.B. checked to ensure the safety of our young farmers and visitors.

Further details of clothing requirements etc will be arranged further to booking, to ensure that the Young Farmer is suitably dressed and obtains the most possible enjoyment of the day.
Our Farmer for the day initiative is charged at £70.00 per child.  Additional children are charged at £35.00 each (maximum 3 children in total)

Opening hours
Winter opening hours 1000-1600, seven days a week.  
Spring and autumn opening hours are 1000-1700, seven days a week and during the summer holidays we are open 0930-1800.

Annual Membership
Our membership pass will allow 12 months entry to the farm.  Your pass will elapse after one year from the date subscribed.

Child-minder Membership
This membership will entitle a Child-minder to enter the farm for a period of 12 months with up to 6 children.  You will have to be registered and volunteer your Registration Number for authorisation.  Your card will bear your photograph and Registration number.
